front porch rockersFront Porch Project: is a one month intergenerational community-building project whose goals include making senior citizens' homes safe and handicapped-accessible, building a sense of community between youth and homeowners who are elderly or disabled, and to challenge at-risk youth to make positive changes in their live andf their communities. The Front Porch Project will be piloted at the Big Ugly Community Center and in a collaboration between the Schoenbaum Family Enrichment Center and East End Family Resource Center the summer of 2007. WV Family Links: Parents working with other parents to educate and connect on how to use resorces and get needs met. WV Family Links coordinators receive training to work in the community assisting people, maintain regular communication with other county coordinators,organize local phone trees, advocate for families in the community and the State, and hold local meetings on issues of interest in the community.

Sponsoring Partnerships: Step by Step has been the incubator for a variety of community leadership, education and development initiatives over the past fifteen years including launching the regional family literacy program APPALREAD, The Lincoln County Family Resource Network, the Lincoln County Starting Points Center, and the pilot for the Girls Resiliency Program in Lincoln County.

Family Leadership First: In January 2003 Families First Council and Family Leadership Project merge to form Family Leadership First. Initially supported by the Governor's Cabinet on Children and Families, these groups promote family support, family involvement, family-centered practice and leadership. Family Leadership First is composed of family members who have received public funded services, family advocates and interested professionals.

Lincoln County Prevention Coalition: We have sponsored the development of a county wide coalition that was one of twelve organizations to receive an implementation grant from a Strategic Prevention Framework - State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG) coordinated by the West Virginia Prevention Resource Center. Current goals include piloting the Maternal Infant Health Outreach (MIHOW) program, and special outreach to senior citizens, teens and an education campaign on prescription drug abuse.
