A peer counseling program developed by the Comprehensive Health Education Foundation. Presently, we have Natural Helpers student groups located at each of the four middle schools in Lincoln County and at Lincoln High School. School counselors serve as Natural Helpers advisers. Maternal Infant Health Outreach Workers (MIHOW)

Developed by the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the MIHOW program trains outreach workers to conduct home visits with expectant mothers and parents of children up to age 3. 90 Students Pledge Service as ‘Natural Helpers’ in Lincoln County

“We recognize that within every school, an informal “helping network” already exists. Students with problems naturally seek out other students, and trusted adults, to discuss their issues. 22nd Annual WV GeriOlympics will be First Competition Since Prague

On Friday, April 24th, 2009, the 22nd annual WV Geri Olympics will open at 8am in the South Charleston Community Center at 601 Jefferson Rd, South Charleston, with over 25 nursing homes and over 200 residents- the largest group of nursing home athletes in the history of the WV Geri Olympics- and just as much if not more enthusiasm from the crowds of spectators. Planned events include: wheelchair races, basketball toss, horseshoe toss, bean bag toss and obstacle course.
